Default SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT CRACKING

Is it hard to replace this belt?
And also I'm getting this loudwhinning sound coming fromtheright side of the engine. What can that be some bearing or tensioner? Or can a cracking belt make that noise? The noise is loud at idle and at all rpms.

The belt being cracked really bad can sometimes make noise.
To change the belt you need to remove the outer part of the crank pulley. Then release the tensioner and remove the belt.
Then you can start it and see if the noise is still there.

DO NOT waste time doing this. Mine broke on me and when it did it broke the timing belt cover, snapped the timing belt and Presto! Bent valves that cost me $4,000 to repair.

I changed my belt with out any problems its about a 30min job... after I found out that u have to take the passenger front tire off to get to that lil panel to get the pulley cover off.. jus remember to pull the the tensioner pulley toward the front of the car (cause on other cars its the opposite) and it falls right off..

Hey, TECH after I take off the BELT can I turn on the car without a belt on? If the sound is still there, what would would cause that a pulley or the tensioner?

Yes you can start it with the serpentine belt off only. If the noise is still there it will be a timing pulley issue.

Timing pulley.
Is that the same as the CrankShaft Pulley? Doesn't this part cost more than the Belt Tensioner?

I see... so you think most likely it might be the timing pulley than the belt tensioner?

That is squeeling maybe it might be. But like I stated in one of the posts hte only way to find out for sure is to remove the belt and run the car to see if the noise is gone.

Okay... I would try to change the belt myself on Fri.
You know it took me about 4hrs to replace the Upper Engine Torque Mount, fuel filter and the ABS Controller. I'm sending the ABS Controller back to BBA and get my money back. I thinking about checking the resistance on the speed sensors.

Normally its a 50/50 mix between coolant and water.. Regards the flush I cant really tell you about a DIY but it isnt supposed to be an expensive job in a shop..

I would just do a drain and refill and mix it 50/50.

Okay. I had a flush done about 4months ago. With Coolant and the flush it came out to 60 bucks. So yeah I would just drain it and put in new coolant.

Does the brand of coolant have anything to do with how long it holds up by any chance? What would be considered good or bad coolant?
