Is it possible to reset the service engine light that appears when an oil change is due before the light actually appears. I have a 2001 Chy.300 and you can reset that at any time and change the service intervals if you want. I don't know how to do this on my 2009 s80.Yhe garage where I get my oil changed don't know either.

 

IMO you should wait for the light to come on, perform the service and then reset it, else you may forget to perform the service. Anyway, here is how to reset the Service Engine light.

1) Turn ignition key to Position I
2) Press and hold the trip reset button and wait for the trip mileage to reset to zero. Must be in trip mode #1.
3) Turn the key to Position II, and watch the trip miles.
4) When the previously displayed miles reappears, release the button.

That's it. The Service reminder light should now be out.
