Default Source of 2016 S80 Service Manual pointers?

I'd like to know of sources for the SM for the S80, MY 2016, either electronic/website or hard copy. Ideally the factory SM would be my preference.

Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks
J

You need an up to date copy of VIDA. But Volvo just changed VIDA to a web based version so the counterfeiters who sell the copies in eBay can't do anything.

You would need to buy what we use at the dealer from volvotechinfo.com. I don't know what it costs, but I'm sure it's not worth it for a car that is under warranty.

Basically, I read through the entire SM to better understand my car. I generally don't trust what the dealership/service rep tells me unless they go into detail, and they usually think they are talking to a person who is clueless about cars. I've designed ECUs (cpu and software) for Ford back in the late 70s and have been wrenching on my cars since I was 15. I've mainly dealt with Saabs, Jeeps, and Chevy products, and this is my first Volvo, although it was a close race between getting my 1980 Saab 900 or the turbo volvo at the time.
Anyway, thanks to the pointer to the VIDA. Seems it is a subscription service and I am not really interested in subscribing, unless...I can download the SM, or the major pieces of it. Do they have such a thing?

Assuming I don't subscribe to the VIDA service, can I get a hardcopy (or even a softcopy (bootleg?) of the SM anywhere?

Thanks for your help....

As of now, no. There won't be a hard copy... Volvo hasn't had a hard copy in over 15 years. Bootleg will take time, but I don't know if someone will be able to hack this one like they did the old version of VIDA.

What kind of info are you looking for? The owners manual should cover it pretty well. If you're looking for more technical info, any advisor you talk to won't be able to help much because they don't have near the level of training is technicians do with regard to technical aspects.

I basically want to know R&R info, e.g. plugs/torque requirements, DI cassette, location and number of o2 sensors, brake setup, wiring, cooling system working pressure, thermostat location, crankshaft position sensor location, camshaft position sensor location, timing chain/belt setup, etc.
recommended fluid flush intervals, fluid specs, etc.

For my 2004 Saab I had a copy of their WIS service DVD and would read that and a Bentley SM for the 9-5 that came out maybe 3-4 years after my car hit the market. Combo of both were helpful. Could print out anything I needed from the WIS DVD. Was helpful as it gave saab P/Ns for just about everything.
Oh well, thanks for the input, I'll keep checking around.

Yeah might just have to wait a couple years for an aftermarket one to surface or a bootleg version of VIDA to come out.
