Default Speedometer off by 6%

I live in Canada. Our highway speeds are in kilometres per hour. Our highway speeds are usually 100 kilometres per hour. My speedo is off by 6 km/hr. When actual speed is 100 km/h, speedo reads 106km/hr. I checked this out with my gps unit.

Went to the dealer who said that the speedometer is within industry standards of 10%. They checked the gearing and tread wear as well. I think this is crap. Car is an 02 s80 T6, still under full warranty. Dealer said can't do anything about it.

Anyone with any suggestions or comments? Do you think this should be covered?

No, I didn't change the tires - they are still the original ones. Volvo Canada has said it's normal.

I'm just not happy with that.

I have noticed that the tires might need changing in the next year. I'll make note of the speedo when I do that.

For the past five years, all BMW speedos read higher than actual MPH!! BMW CCA thinks it is BMWs way of keeping us from receiving a ticket...............................
