Today I brought my car in because of the message, "SRS Airbag Service Urgent", So I bring it into 128 Volvo and have them
look at it for a second time. The first time they just cleared the code and charged me $72.00. This next time that I bring it in they say that the following code comes up, "007C Seat belt tensioner middle resistance to high, needs to remoce all audio equiptment amd return for further testing for extented period with loaner." So they cannot go ahead and diagnose the problem becuase of the 500 watt sub in the trunk with the Amp mounted on the back of the seat(driver side)? I dont get it, it should not have anything to do with it? They basically told me that if it isnt Volvo it has to be removed!.........-right from the service manager.....

Whats this message/ code exactly mean?
Why I can't I just disconnect it from the battery?

 

Do you still have the factory radio in?

If not was it installed properly and had the software download?

If all that was done I don't understand either.

Is that code for the rear seat?

 

Yes the factory radio is still installed!
The installation was done professionally by tweeter!
I'm assuming it's the rear, this is what the report said,
The first time they just cleared the code, Im not sure if cleaning the code means re-software download of that.

Seems strange that they would blame the audio setup for a technical malfunction. In your case, I would have asked for my $72 back because they couldn't even fix it the first time. These Volvo technicians are really cut throat.

 

Im really not sure but if the stock radio is in there then it should not affect the SRS system at all.

Make him EXPLAIN how it can set the code. The Amp is Most likely patched into the rear speakers and then convereted to RCA to the Amp. Or Just the low level input to the Amp.

Or the only other thing I can tell you is to TRY calling VCNA If you are in the states.

Ouch, yeah, Audio setup should have nothing to do with SRS.

Your seatbelt pretensioner is prolly bad......

 

Well I called the service manager 2 days in a row, adn they tell me the first time that he's out and don't know when he'll be back, and i just called a while ago and he's not there, guess Im calling VCNA

 

I have all 3 rear belt tensioners giving hi/low resistance readings PLUS front drivers side, so illuminating srs light plus airbag service urgent message showing. ALL airbags are ok. How do I put message and light out as making me bald with worry as test due in a few days. Am in UK

 

Just picked up my 1999 s80 from an auction yesterday and it had the SRS airbag service urgent message on. I'm all new to volvos except for one I had a short time when I was a youngster. New to the forum today. Can OReilly run a code for me? Any advice appreciated. Dealer is a long ways away from rural Nevada.
