Disconnect the battery and hold the cables together for 5 minutes. Then reconnect the battery and see if it works.

Hey, I didn't see a thread from u saying that u fixed ur sunroof but from experience I had the same problem and I jus bought this 99' S80 from a friend, and the second day the sunroof stayed open. So I found out that if u unsnap the sunroof frame and take it out then take the interior lights out around ur mirror andn then get to the back of the mother board on that light pannel there is a lil ribbon wire that snaps into the switch. This wire comes off frequently and if u go to the dealer the stinkin switch will cost u bout $45.00 , all u do is reattach the wire and it should work.. it took me bout 30mins to get all that torn apart and now I'm off to fix the passenger side window cause it broke and keeps falling off the track.

Hope that works for ya

Sorry to bump an old thread but this is the closest I could find to my problem.

I have intermident problems with my sunroof. I never knew why it would start working again but figured it had to do with me locking/unlicking with the key (found that searching... resets the UEM or something) well this time there is nothing. Its been 2 days and it is still stuck open.

I have checked the sunroof fuse, disconnected the battery for 30 mins hoping to reset all the modules and nothing. I do not hear any relays or motor humm.

Ive had HORRIBLE luck with interior panels in this car cracking so Im nervous about taking off the light/switch surround. Any pointers?

In the mean time is there a manual close cable? An older car I owned you took off a small panel and closed it with a screwdriver. Is there a way to manually close the s80s sunroof?

Thanks,
Jonathan

PS ive got 2 days to fix this or get it closed or well see how well the s80 retains water in the interior! Haha.

Ok so I finally got the surround off from around the light/mirror.

I see how the switch mounts but can't get it to budge. Which connection do you say goes bad? I see the gray square connector on the back of the light panel that has about 12 wires to it... but I can't get the switch off to see if it is the plug there.

The rear view mirror might be bad and blocking the sunroof operation.
I don't think there is a manual operation to close it.
You might be able to add power directly to the motor to close it.

My sunroof only will close completely, by me turning car off and on several times, sunroof moving around 3 inches forward in 3 seconds each time I give it a break (turn switch off)and turn switch on. What may be the problem?
