Thinking of buying an S80 T6 anything I should know?

RE: Thinking of buying an S80 T6 anything I should know?
Drove off the lot after handing over a $39,700 check. Yes, straight up. It was good time before the bubble. I went home after test drove it. I was thinking between a mazda 626 for $20K or a s80 for $40K. I thought if I got the mazda, I would have a new car, but I wouldn't be happy (first new car). So I got the s80.
Well, you know my answer if I can do it all over again.
Man, I just saw the Infinity M35 at lunch. It looks good.

Wow,
It seeems like a lot of unhappy s80 owners out there.
Well James, I don't know if you have made a decision yet, but here is my 2 cents:
I have put over 100K on my last 2 T6's (68K on a 2001 & 36k on my current 2002). I have had almost no problems of any kind. On my 1st one, brakes and reg. maintenance. On this one, no probs for the last 24k.
Any noises and quirks were completely under warranty, and fixed quickly. I love the car and look forward to owning the next generation.

My only rant with my s80 other than the usual stuff, is this:
The looks on the s80 are hit or miss. From some angles, it looks awesome. From others, it looks like an overweight s60.
At this stage, I'm still extremely mixed.
I went for a nice little getaway on the weekend with 4 of my friends from college. It was a 3 hour trip each way to where we were headed, and when the car has 5 people....hope and prey that your floor to the gas pedal even gets you going 40 miles an hour. 197 hp trying to push 4,000 pounds times 4 of my big friends...not fun. For that drive I struggled to even keep my car going at the speed limit.
Why is it that someone would design a car with an engine that should make well over 197 hp, orwell over 268 even with twin turbos, and struggle to accelerate even when an automaker knows that the engine should be able to efficiently propel the car even under a full load with luggage and people in it?

If you are willing to spend some money maintaining your volvo, then you are good to go.
One thing to look for when you buy a volvo is warranty.
Otherwise, you might have to junk it and buy another car.
It runs nice though. Volvo is roomy compared to bmw 3 or audis

Well guys you completly scared the pants off me!!! I am going for either an S70, Mercedes E320 or BMW 5 series. I would buy an American car but they are just not a pach on European cars, they may be cheep but the quality in ride and parts is just not there.

Just bought an '03 T6 (36K miles) 6 mos ago. Love the car. Acceleration is very strong (given weight); engine is smooth; and ride is great (good compromise between performance and luxury). If you are looking for BMW-like performance, I don't recommend. I have noticed that my interior has a bit more wear and tear than my '01 Audi (bought new), but that might be my care standard vs. the first owner of the Volvo. Good luck w decision and let me know if other questions.

I've got a 2000 Volvo S80, and I love the car. I do my periodic maintenance and the dealership here in town doesn't take you to the cleaners. I have heard some bad press on this car, but I'm one of the guys that absolutely loves the thing! It's seven years old, has 68,000 miles and is still going strong. I'm going to look into trading it in before I hit the 100,000 mile mark as that seems to be when the issues really begin to start showing up.
