Can someone clue me in please? I recently purchased a 2000 s80 t6 and it appears the viscous coupling is leaking. I found the seal at the dealer and will be replacing it soon but can someone tell me what it does? or can I buy the axleshaft without the coupler unit and discard the leaky POS.

I would think you could chuck it and install the other axle. They only did it for about 1/2 a year. But never tried myself.
