Default Trunk will not open

I have a 2009 s80 3.2 and the trunk will not open. I did a quick search here and did not find anything, so if this is a repeat, please forgive me. The actuator makes a sound like it is trying to work but it will not unlatch.. So I tried to find a way into the trunk through the rear seats, but there is no levers in the cabin to lower the rear seats. the only levers to do so according to the manual is in (you guessed it) the trunk. YouTube is no help. I'm hoping someone here may have the answer. Thanks in advance

I bought my 2009 S80 (first Volvo) and did not know when you look the glove box the valet turns on and prevents the truck from opening. Unlock the glovebox to turn off the valet.

Anyway,
Before I realized it was a user error, I found the manual release next to the actuator under the lip of the trunk just above the license plate. It is covered with a rubber stopper that is almost unnoticeable. Remove the stopper and insert the key from the fob to release the lock.

I hope one of these helps to open the trunk.

I did forget to mention that I have tried the manual release with the key and the key will not turn to open the trunk. I will have to try the valet thing though. Thanks

Fine and dandy but the video has you inside the trunk. I can't get into the trunk to do repairs. no way in from in the cabin of the car

Ok here is an update for anyone who is interested.
The center armrest in the back seat when stowed away properly sits in (lack of a better description) a black plastic box. (basically shoe box size) If you use a decent size flathead screwdriver and insert/pry gently between the top center of the box and the bottom side of the center headrest seat area. It will release and fold down just like the armrest itself. That now opens into the trunk to where you can reach through with something to pull the emergency handle for the trunk lid, incase someone decides to lock you into said trunk. (Sorry guys not a good time out space for your kids) or get to the ONLY seat back release handles to afford you a bigger hole to get into the trunk to facilitate repairs. Hope that helps someone in the future

Default Trunk won’t open 2009 s80

(1) check fuse, if fuse is burned, oil cap won’t open either
(2) press the button at front, if you hear relay noise at glove box, which means button and rekey and fuse are working
(3) if it’s the first time happens, look between rear window and trunk lid on driver’s side. To see if you can see the cable control the trunk. Use a long screwdriver to touch it or wiggle it. Ideally another helper to try opening the trunk at the same time.
(4)if not working, you need open the small window between rear seat. Use a stick to pull the emergency plug to open the trunk
(5) once open the trunk, leave one of back seats unfolded.
(6) cut open the cable yo find out the broken wires. I had 5 out of 8 black wires broken at the same places and at the same time
(7) one wire is thicker. The other 4 are identical, so I labeled one end as 1,2,3 and 4; the other end labeled as a,b,c,d. I know there are 24 combinations. I tried one by one, I got it working until the 6th try.
(8) make sure lights are off when trunk is closed.
