Default Trying to service my S80

Hello guys. I'm a first timer and would first like to commend you on a great site. I was hoping you would help me in locating a service/repair manual for a 99 S80 2.9 NT or at least shed some light on how the head cover is removed.

The car had to be serviced at the dealer some time ago for a valve noise. A couple of months after that, it developed an oil leakage and was taken in to get it fixed 3 times but it kept resurfacing. Exhausted, I decided to take it to an independent (and more trusted) shop where they told me the problem arose after someone installed incorrect (and mixed) bolts to put the head cover back. Oil is pouring out of one of the bolts' damaged grooves and I need to get the head out to a machine shop to have new grooves drilled. Removing just the head cover is a project of its own as it holds the camshaft(s) in place.

Do you know where can I get the service manual or get in contact with someone who might be of help? I just do not trust the dealer anymore.

Thank you very much.

It is a pain and you will need to buy special tools to remove and install it.
You will have to find the instructions to reset the VVT Valve.

There is no service manual made as far as I know.

It is all P.C. programs.

A subscription to AllData should be able to help you.

Thanks for the help. I will contact AllData. Pain indeed, and we still don't know if the head can be fixed.
