My name is Rob and I'm new to this wonderful site. I was wondering what was the manufacturer for the OEM 600 amp Battery?

 

I really don't know who made the Volvo branded battery, but I purchased a Bosch replacement for my 2002 S80 at Pep Boys and it fit like a glove. They were quite a bit cheaper than anyone else too.

That said, I suspect it was some Euro battery maker- Varta makes a lot of OEM batteries in Europe (I know they make Audi's battery right now). It really doesnt matter because you probably cant get it unless you go to Volvo dealer, and even then it might be a a US made battery branded "Volvo".

I once worked in a battery plant near Dallas- they had every brand of battery coming down the line. Just different labels. It cost too much to ship a battery, so there are plants located all over to avoid shipping.
