Exclamation Volvo S80 2000 2L T fault codes

It started with a ABS fault lamp in my dash, i came on and the speedometer and RPM's stopped working. read somewhere that it could be the ABS control module so i bought a used one from a different car that had the same product number, which seemed to work fine for about 1-2 week when the lamps came back on and now even more things are faulty.

i am at a loss for where to start and if fixing this is even worth the time and money. so if anyone has any clue what it might be it would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently scaned my volvo for fault codes because it wouldn't start, the engine cranks but wont stay running and just chokes it selv. the fault codes that appeared were:

CEM-1 A58 communication with PHM control module ; signal missing
CEM-1 A59 communication with AUM control mudule ; Signal missing
CEM-E000 control module communication ; communication fault

DIM-E003 configuration fault ; configuration fault
DIM-FFFF no faults detected by OBD system

TCM-E000 control module communication ; communication fault

ABS-0095 control module communication

SRS-E003 configuration fault ; configuration fault

quite often these kinds of codes can get set when the car has a "voltage event". I don't see anything here that will impact the engine directly... PHM is the phone module, AUM is the audio module, DIM is the driver information module (ie your dashboard info stuff), TCM is the transmission control module, ABS is the anti-lock bracking module and SRS is the supplemental restraint system - aka airbags. CEM refers to the central electronics module so with all these, you may have a connector or two that need to be removed and cleaned to see if they can seat better. PS always unhook the battery first before pulling connectors.

As to your ABS fault, try installing your original ABS controller again - the fact that the replacement worked for a bit then failed suggests to me that you may have a cable/connector issue - and as a quick test, try reinstalling the original ABS controller to see if that helps clean the connection. You can use some electronics contract cleaner etc to see if that helps and clean connectors to the ABS, the CEM and the TCM (not sure where they are on the S80 :-( google around. PS: cleaning the TCM connector solved a shifting issue on my son's S40 so its worth a try
