My Volvo has always given me issues, but the latest one has been uncontrollable shaking at about 50 mph, only during acceleration. My car doesn’t shake when in idle, doesn’t shake while braking, but as soon as you even gently touch the gas pedal it shakes a lot, and it’s scary. I just took my car in for tire balancing and an alignment yesterday. They looked at the suspension/tires and nothing seemed wrong to them. The only thing they said was the outer tie rod was slightly loose, but they could still do the alignment with no problem... so I’m not sure what the issue is. But after getting the alignment and tires balanced my car shakes just the same, and there are odd noises I didn’t hear prior to taking my car in. I need a reliable car because I’m pregnant and both my doctor and my parents are an hour away. Any advice?!

 

Hi I had the same problem and it got worse when you turn.Turned out that one cv was lose and the holding bolt went missing causing a dangerous situation.Just remove the volvo hub caps on front wheels and you will see the bolt.Make sure they are tight as they do get lose

 

sounds like an issue with one of the front axles - whats going on in when you apply power the axle is torquing up moving out of its center line and effectively going out of balance. Best to have your local shop take it for a test drive if there's nothing visible from the outside like a torn CV boot or a noticeable loose bolt, movement etc.
