Default Want one Final advise on Window Motor regulator.

HI

I am looking to buy a front driver side window motor regulator for my 99 S80. If I put in a aftermarket regulator will it fail on me. I spoke to this one guy who works on Volvos and he said only get the OEM volvo one because the aftermarket one will break on you right away. Has anyone on this forum put in an aftermarket and had any success.

Thanks

Default Window Regulator

Not sure what the problem is. I had an issue with my 2001 s40 window regulator. The window would creep down and I had to pull it back up. Took the window regulator out of the door and took the cover off the back of the gear drives. The rubber drive gear teeth had disintegrated. Instead of trying to replace it I tore off the remaining teeth, cleaned and left the rubber hub in place where it was attached to the shaft. This portion of the rubber gear was in good shape. Went to the hardware store and purchased some 2 part epoxy from JB WELD. Got the 24 hour cure type because you definitely do not want it curing too fast. Mixed up the epoxy and pored it around the remaining hub. Made sure to wipe up any spilled around the outside gear or dropped on the end of the shaft. Another reason to get the 24 hour cure. Put the cover back on with perma-tex. Next day put the regulator back in the car and all is working fine. Window does not creep down and it goes up with out assistance. Been about a month now. Total investment about five bucks.
