Default What on earth is a turbo control valve?

I have seen a few references to a turbo control valve. What is it?

I found it late last night. It is a turbo pressure regulator ($45 part) and it takes 2 minutes to replace.

Sorry, but I don't know what "link me" means.

I've heard it referred to before too, my dad had to have it replaced on his 02 S80 T6, but my only guess is that it regulates the air in or out of the turbo, or something...

"link me" basically means, "give me a link" so that he could see where it was used, and in what context, so he could better help you to figure out what the Turbo Control Valve is.

the s80 t6 is a bilatteral turbo system which means the small turbo on the passenger side spools up to a certain rpm then the turbo control valve tells the larger driver side turbo to take over the boost at a higher rpm.

Where is the Turbo Control Valve on the 2001 S80 T6. I just got a P1238 error code. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

the code is telling your the measured boost pressure is measuring out of range. First thing to do is check for air leaks after the turbo (ie tubing from the turbo to the intercooler then to the intake/MAF etc). If that looks ok then it could be a failed turbo control valve/boost control valve. You can find some vids discussing these parts on Youtube. Parts diagrams can also be found on the dealer parts sites like Tascaparts.com and volvopartswarehouse.com search for part #9473212

The TCV is on the side of the air cleaner box. I had an overboost error code which I thought might be caused by the TCV, but it was a cracked vacuum hose. Take off the strut cross brace and look at the lines that run to each of the turbo wastegates.
