Because MOST people that drive Volvos are safe and cautious drivers. (That's why they own a Volvo, a very safe car). I drive a Volvo S80, and I will admit I drive a bit slower in it than the rest of the motorists because a safe/slow/cautious driver goes perfect with a safe car, a volvo.

LOL so true.. i also drive slow as well but sometimes I put pedal to the metal from a stop to feel the engine. The S80 and 960 that i got feels good when u accelerate. but putting the cruise control on 55 or 60 mph on the highway save gas, i run with tank full 450 miles per tank on my 960..

I don't. Consistently 10-15% over the limit.

I think your confused here, it's really because volvo's don't have the power to maintain the speed limit, or maybe it's just our volvo?

but in all seriousness, I never do below the speed limit. normally a little bit over.

Both of mine are not turbo I drive a 1997 960 and 1999 S80. And they run quite good and I used to have a 850 and it did run good also i used to love the sound of the engine.

heh... There's 2 types of Volvo drivers. The slow ones, and the maniacal ones. I tend to drive 10 miles or so over the speed limit. It's kind of strange. My S70 doesn't feel like it's slow when I'm going 65 or so, but my 740 doesn't feel right if it's below 80 on the highway. The Jetta is the same way. I don't understand this, because the S70- it's a turbo- is quieter, more powerful, and has less vibration than either of the other cars. Still, it's kind of fun passing people in a 21- year old gray Volvo wagon, and not as much so in the black, somewhat sporty- looking S70.

Oxymoron alert. You can be safe and "cautious" without being slow. If anything by not matching the speed of traffic around you creating a greater hazard. I haven't observed Volvo drivers' habits to be noticeably different to others. Buicks and Oldsmobiles, however, don't get me started on those!

Generally I match the speed of traffic around me, stay out of the left lane when not overtaking and try and be considerate of others. If the roads are clear and conditions are good then I will exceed the posted legal speed limit by a decent amount.
