WIX oil filter
Anyone have any experience w/ WIX oil filters or STP oil filters? Those are the only 2 brands they carry for my car at the local auto parts stores and was wondering if they are any good. I've heard different stories about OEM filters working miracles and wanted to know if it matter THAT much. I could special order an AC Delco filter too.

While you're here, best stuff to use when flushing engine oil?

Well, IMOHO, I'd stick with OEM or Mann (OEM manufacturer). About a $1 or $2 more than some off shelf "Jiffy Lube Equivalent" at an auto parts store. You can get a discount on lots of 5 from ipdusa.com. If oil has been changed regularly, why need to flush engine? Seems it would do nothing but release 'gunk' throughout the motor. Volvo doesn't recommend any additives, and I'll assume flushing chems, especially for turbos. Use Mobil 1 and won't have a sludge problem anyway...."pay the man now, or pay lots more later" Just my 9 cents :-D

This is funny: most automobile manufactures do not make their own filters. So who really makes them? Ford motocraft filters are purolator. Since Ford own's Volvo I would bet all of their filters are supplied by purolator. Wix filters are some of the best in the business. I would go with wix.
It is interesting that the tech suggests to use Mobil 1 oil instead of the "delaer's oil" but not the filter. The dealer does not make the oil, nor does he make the filter. Go with a company that makes filters for a living and their reputation is staked on it. BTW I would not go with the cheapest filter.
