S90 died
Hello!
My girlfriends 1998 s90 began to smoke while she was exiting the freeway. She pulled over and then noticed that she could not accelerate. All the coolant was drained and this hose was disintegrated.
Any ideas what may have caused this?
We are taking it in friday.

Well i found out that its the Intake air tube to air injection pump that disintegrated. Still not sure why this would happen and the coolant would all be gone. I did add coolant yesterday. Maybe I added too much water?
That did not cause the car to stall or shut down. There is another problem. Drain the oil and see what it looks like. If you drian it into a clean container/pan, you can put it back in the motor. If it looks like chocolate milk, the coolant has mixed with the oil, bad head gasket.
You can drive and see if the coolant is leaking somewhere.

That gooseneck disintegrating is harmless. It was probably turned too close to the engine and it burnt. No harm.
However, it has nothing to do with coolant. The two have no relationship, not even remotely.
Like Rspi said, finding the source of coolant leak is the issue. You better hope GF did not drive the car with no coolant.

If there's white foamy gunk under the oil filler cap, you have coolant in the oil, and thus a bad head gasket. A major or unrecognized coolant leak into the oil could lead to overfilled situation and diluted, less effective, lubricant.
