My car only came with one key and one remote. Needless to say, getting a spare is high on the priority list. I know that this particular style of key must be cut by the dealer or a specialty shop that cuts high security keys, but does the key have a transponder built into it like my '99 C70 did?

Any idea where to get the "key code" for the key? Is this the alphanumeric code on the key itself?

No transponder. It is only like $20.00 to have the dealer do it. They are laser cut keys. The dealer has like a high speed drill setup and they copy the old one to make the new one.

Some locksmith shops can do it as well.
