recently had a fender bender. Body shop is telling me that needed to replace due to stress fracture & rim scraping. I do not know what a stress fracture looks like but they said they outline in pink . Wheel was in my car when towed back to me. Any thoughts?
was the tire experiencing a slow leak prior to the accident? its not unheard of for allow rims to develop cracks - you can run your finger over the area to see if there's a discontinuity or the shop will use a dye test (dye gets to soak into the crack then a UV light etc can highlight the weakness. There are shops that can repair the rim such as wheelcollision.com or simply go to car-part.com or ebay to source a replacement.
No leak noticed at all. When it take my finger over the area they marked in pink, I feel scratches & dirt. Did you see the pictures?
