Sunroof, Plastic Clips and Stops
A week ago I purchased a 97 S90 with 105K on it. A couple days later I opened the sunroof, as I had done before and I heard a snap like plastic breaking and two rectangular pieces dropped to the floor. Now, I have to stand outside the car to make sure I get the sunroof closed properly. The sunroof will go from tilt to full open with no stop between the settings. Any thoughts?

Volvo lined the slotted metal assemblies that move to control the height of the sunroof with plastic, really poor design (but I hate sunroofs in general). We had ours repaired several times on the extended warranty (worth it for the Volvo, but not for anything else). The dealer would not back the repairs and I have simply stopped using the sunroof, in fact I back off the connector behind the switch so operating it is impossible. If you get the height setting close, you can adjust the sunroof with the two mounting screws on each side. Baseline is 0.5 mm low in the front and 0.5 mm high in the back. When you take off the sunroof with the four screws you will see why the back number is recommended, the metal are for the seal in the back is only a couple of mm thick.
