Default About to do a front-end brake job. What will I need?

Alright guys I'm no newcomer to brake jobs in general, but I have not ever done one on a Volvo. I have a 97 S90, just wondering if you guys have any suggestions on pads, rotors, any sensors I would need, special techniques, etc...

Nope. Pretty easy and straight forward. Rotors are easy to remove, no special tools or anything.

Good deal, nothing special about pushing in the calipers either?

No. I will post photo instructions later today. I used a c-clamp. The caliper has a solid tab on it to support the clamp on.

Sounds just like my T/A. I had to use an 8" c-clamp for it.

Not sure if these instructions will help but here is how they are done on the S70.

The sliders will turn, but they are not loosening so the caliper can be removed. I looked at the instructions and my S90 doesn't have the clips or the 8mm screws he mentions. Any thoughts? I've changed pads previously on other vehicles not on my New to Me S90.

The slider fittings have flats that you can grab with a wrench (or simply holding them by hand has worked for me). Good luck, the S90 brakes are pretty easy to work on. However, the mounts that the slider pins fit into do wear over time. The Volvo sourced "remanufactured" caliper mounts actually had holes that were worse than the ones on our car, they were simply used mounts that were cleaned and spray painted gold! One of the slider holes wears more than the other, so I got some benefit by simply swapping the mounts side to side. I note that some of the replacement "loaded calipers" come with mounts as well, but I have not tried them.

The front hubs on the S90 have radial runout marks that you could line up with marks on the old OEM Volvo rotors, when doing that mine were always in runout spec and I never had to get the rotors ground. The current Volvo sourced rotors are Chinese instead of Italy / Brembo, so all bets are off on those. I think Rock Auto still offers Brembo rotors, but they may not be OEM and may not have the radial runout marks.
