Default Thinking of buying a NEW S90?

Think again...
Do you wonder why there are very few S90s on the roads in the UK? Well, now that they are built in China, the lead time is a little long.
In the first week of April our fleet manager placed an order for my new S90 and asked for a delivery date... mid OCTOBER! That's - count them - 28 weeks!!
May I suggest that, given the age of the demographic this car is appealing to, there may be a few people who will no longer have a valid licence by the time the car is on their drive. It's also possible that a few people will actually forget they ordered the car and go and get a Mondeo instead (delivery in 12-14 weeks).
I know China is a long way away but really?

2 great reasons to wait:
1) It is a new plant producing their first car
2) workers can practice getting perfect on your car, while they build ones for other markets.
Then again, I have no idea the ratio between R-hand and L-hand drive S90s.

I went ahead an bought an S90 T6 Inscription, list price of $67,775 (but $10,500 discount). It had a build date of Sept 2016 (bought June 2017). It is awesome. I was going to wait and buy a 2018, with OSD, in exactly the colors and options I wanted. I did not get my preferred exterior color, but I am really digging my Onyx Black. I did not even know that Polestar Optimized was an option. I have it. It is so nice to have. I rented for 10 days, this May, a T5 Momentum, and decided it was as long as I wanted (the 2018 is 4.5" longer.) That is why I searched dealer inventory all over California, OR, and WA. Eventually, I was offered a whopping $10,000 off a car with every option I wanted, and some I did not know I would come to really love. Volvo is having a SUMMER sale on S90s and XC60s, due to the 2018 models of these substantial changes. Good luck with whatever you do.
