Brake Bleeding Trick & Question
Practiced brake bleeding for the first time with my vacuum brake bleeder today. What a drama! Air bubbles whatever trick I came up with. Untill I took the plug completely off from the caliper (reservoir closed). Wrapped "gas gasket tape" (is that correct English?) around the threads of the plug. Return the plug. And put a tie-wrap on the hose. Not one bubble after that. When finished, I close the reservoir (to prevent fluid from leaking out due to gravity). Then take off the caliper-plug again. And I remove the "gas gasket tape". Return the plug without tape => finished.
I remove the tape because I am afraid that contamination particles of the tape may enter/obstruct the caliper and cause brake malfunctioning. As a matter of fact, I saw remnants of the shredded tape in the plug-hole... Did anybody ever hear of this trick possibly being dangerous??! Thank you for your time!
