Default Faulty lights

Hi, I have a P reg V40 on which I noticed recently that the front lights seemed dimmer than they should be. Full beams are fine but will not remain switched on. I normally leave my lights in the far right postiotn on the switch. I pulled up to check them and turned the switch a few time. I lightly pressed on the switch which made full beams flick on briefly but nothing else. At the same time my dashboard light went dark and as I soon discovered my rear lights went out too. The recovery man looked at the fuses and replaced some but I cannot get the main lights to come on properly or the rear lights at all. The Hazards and indicators are fine and all the bulbs are good. Any ideas would be much appreciated

Your comment that the front lights appear dimmer than normal may be indicative of a loose connection or a bad earth connection somewhere.
Perhaps start with your battery condition and it's earth connection???

Yeah definitely sounds like a loose connection here!
