Default Gearbox V40 2003

Good afternoon,

I kindly ask for your help in the situation that I am going to expose:

The gearbox of my Volvo V40 van (1.6 2003 - 220,000km) had a problem which is as follows, in a normal situation, when putting the 1st gear enters reverse..
I went to Roady (known repair center in my area) and after checking they told me that a part was damaged and it was necessary to replace the part.. The piece was this:

i

Effectively the fitting in the piece was damaged. In this socket would fit the metal fork.. :

I tried to get the part, new or used, both nationally and internationally, but without success, that is, discontinued part and no stock anywhere. I went to a turner and the piece was “repaired”.. (to me it looked very well repaired..)

I assembled everything... but apparently it has the same problem... plus 2 other situations, when you pull the lever upwards to put the reverse gear on, the travel is very short and then there is the feeling that when you are putting the various gears the fork may come out over the socket (although it looks well fitted, it may have a very specific way of fitting) I asked my mechanic to check it out but he says that something is missing … I really don't know what could be missing because in the technical design everything seems to be in place..

I went to a Volvo workshop in my area who, in a polite way, dismissed the situation, because the part was already "touched" and so that I wouldn't pay a high price for labor at Volvo, etc.. they advised I actually turned to a “serious” and skilled mechanic to try to resolve the issue..

Basically I think everyone avoids picking up on the topic..

Despite this situation with the 1st/reverse gear, you can drive the car without any problems, just put the 1st gear more carefully and it enters without problems, just don't pull all the way to the left...

Can you somehow help me in this matter? Any tips or suggestions you can point me to?

Thank you in advance for your collaboration
Best regards,
Rui Lalanda Silva
