Ok so here goes, my 2004 v40 the hood wont open. I'm trying to fix it while the car still works so that I'm not caught with my pants down if the battery dies. I pull the red latch on the left of the stearing column and nothing happens. I've tried to pull the cable with pliers to no avail. I tried to go in there with a hook screw driver and pop the hood from the outside to no avail. I was reading the posts and saw that with a socket wrench you could get the hood locks off and I was wondering if anybody knew where the screws to pop it off are. Any other suggestions are welcome, also on an unrelated note wanted to get a new stero any ideas??

 

With the handle pulled did you have someone push and pull on the hood trying to get it released?

Sometimes it is just picky.

 

Same thing happened to me. Just take it to the dealership and have them fix it. Mine was under warantee and was a quick fix.
