Default Pollen filter replacement

I am trying to replace my pollen filter on my V40, however, I can't seem to find it ANYWHERE! I've looked in the manual where it's meant to be, and scoured the internet and even found pictures of what it's meant to look like.

There is nothing that looks right under my passenger side kick guard that I think is the pollen filter.

Do all V40's have this filter? Could it possibly be elsewhere? Am I just being blind?

I have just a very basic 1.8L 1997 volvo v40, no air con etc. might I not have one?

Any help would be much appreciated - I hve dismantled reassembled 3 times now with no joy!

Default RE: Pollen filter replacement

I've done it for both my V40 & S40
https://volvoforums.com/m_38203/tm.htm
*** Remove the Carpeted looking lower dash panel in the Passenger side. [2 screws]
Then look under there for a black plastic rectangular box. The pollen filter cover is a long skinny cover that goes from front to back.(More like the Firewall towards the seat)
There is a tab to push in and then you fold the cover down and pull it out.[use flat screwdriver to push tab in, then cover will fall]
Then the filter will slide out.

Many thanks for you help so far. I have read the reply and the other forum post.

Today I went and tried again (4th time), but there really is nothing like that where I'm looking... I have also looked on the drivers side.

I have attached a picture of what I'm looking at (hopefully it has worked), and I think the large plastic part on the right hand of the bay is where the pollen filter should be, however, there are no release tabs or anything that looks correct. Is it simply a case that I haven't got a cabin/pollen filter?

Help much appreciated.

As you have a '97 V40I assume you are from the UK or Europe. This model was not released in the US until 2000.

On UK/Euro models with no air con, there was no cabin/pollen filter fitted.

I see! Well that would explain the problem in locating it then!

Many thanks, you've saved me a lot of trouble. Saved me a job I suppose...
