Default Thinking of a V40 as next car

I currently own a 95 850 turbo with approx 170k miles on. I love the car and it has been great and easy to work on.

Living in Toronto where it is relatively expensive, and it is sometimes hard to find the time and space to work on my car. I was thinking of getting a V40 when I decide to buy my next car. I figured with the V40 being smaller, they might be a little easier to work on as well as cheaper on gas. I really liked the 2004 model with the fog lights and skirt on the side.

How are these cars compared to the 850 as far as reliability goes and ease of repairing them.

Do they have any etm problems like the newer V70s? How about comfort wise in the city and on the highway?Any common repairs with this model? I would obviously go for the 1.9 turbo model.
Thanks
