Default Transmission speed sensor?

Hi guys, just bought a 2004 Volvo v40 and surprise surprise I got another lemon! I love the car though but the speedometer and mileage counter work VERY intermittently. If the speedo doesn't work the mileage won't turn over either and it only works intermittently usually on the highway after I've been driving for a little bit. The car mostly drives fine but twice I've noticed the transmission slip a little bit just driving it like a grandma. I believe it's the transmission speed sensor as that can affect both the torque converter and the speedometer but I'm not sure. Are the two issues even related? I just had the tranny fluid done and they didn't notice any unusual wear. Anyone who knows anything would be a great help. Not many Volvo dealerships around me. I've also found a couple different parts labeled transmission speed sensor and if anyone knows the proper part number I'm trying to figure that out too. Sorry for the very long winded post. Anyone who knows anything would be a big help, thanks!
