Default Will My Speedometer Ever Work Again.....?

HELLO ALL!!!!!!

Is there anyone that can help? I have a 740 wagon non-turbo. So far I have replaced the speed sensor, the back part of the wiring harness in the rear wheel wellfor the sensor & had the speedometer rebuilt. The company I had rebuild the speedometer says that they bench tested the unit. They seem to be very helpful. They even assisted me with faxing a wiring diagram for the dash cluster. So I'm inclined to think that they are telling the truth. Anyway, long story short, I still cannot get the speedometer &odometerto work. The only thing I have not tried isto run a wire directly from the sensor to the speedometer. This is what therebuild place suggested. They also told me thatthere was not anyway to test the speed sensor except on a/an ocilliscope (sp?). Is this true? I have a volt meter & can get a 12V current on the positive side of the lead for the speedometer. Any input would be totally helpful. Thanks for your time

the speed sensor is a two wire vr sensor. it puts out an ac signal. Set your voltmeter to ac volts and you should get 3v or more as speed increases. Test at speed sensor then check at each step to see if voltage is getting to speedo. Hope this helps.
