Can the OEM trip computer be retrofitted to a 2001 V40? I have the electrical wiring book but I don't see any evidence of prewiring behind the dash location (to the left of the push/pull cupholder on 2001 models)

yes you can retro fit. since it is prewired. But may need time to find connector for the **** beside cup holder. after install switch will have to go to dealer to activate trip computer via VIDA (computer to diagnose Volvo) hope this help
