Default V40 2002 1.9T Fuel Pressure Regulator Problem

Hello everyone,

I have a v40 2002 1.9T Volvo which has a fuel pressure regulator problem. I should also mention that I live in Canada and the price for such a part go over 300 dollars. I went to RockAuto Parts Catalog and found that they have better prices but they don't have the FPR for my model.

What they do have is a FPR for a 2.0T which goes for 137 dollars. I was wondering if the 2.0T FPR would be compatible with the 1.9T? Both FPR seem to have the same characteristics so if anyone has an idea, I would like to know.

Thank you!

I got one from Autozone that works fine. Would add that it didn't cure the residual fuel pressure problem the car was experiencing, which turned out to be a leaking check valve in the fuel pump. We scored a used pump assembly off Ebay for $60 US which fixed the problem completely. If you're having a hard start problem be sure its the FPR before you buy.

According to the Haynes service manual the normal pressure should be 44 PSI

Hi - did you get this sorted? if not, do not delay too long as a friend of mine had the same issue and the car ended up stalling on the 401 and his wife was driving it with all three kids...she was not happy.

I helped his secure a replacement. For the V70 it turns out that the FPR is a Bosch and that other car manufacturers use the same one. A google search allowed us to figure that out. Looking on ebay for a Bosch FPR turned out to yield much, much cheaper prices. We ended up securing one for $60! Volvo in Oakville wanted $230 plus tax for one here.

As an alternative, not sure how close you are to the boarder but look up tasca automotive parts in NJ - they sell volvo OEM parts and their prices are unbeatable. I've registered at a UPS store in Lewiston NY and routinely drive down to pick up parts for my v40 at a significant discount. The price differential is nuts!

In the end I just bought the OEM part and the car works fine now.
