Hi, my fan belt snapped this morning, or so I thought. Upon further investigation, the pulley on the alternator had sheared off. Anyway, stripped it down and got the alternator off, to discover a Denso 14v 120 amp. Have spent countless hours looking for a replacement, but for the year and model can't find this alternator listed anywhere, not even Volvo. Its got full Volvo history, and to the best of my knowledge hasn't been changed previously. Any ideas, or suggestions for a suitable alternative?? Its a V40, auto, year 2000.

Hi there , Had same problem with my V40 2001 . Yes the alternator is 14V 120amp. Actually for that year Volvo have 3 diferent alternators ...If you go in any other part salers they have only one alternator listed and it s gone be the good one belive me, I did the same . It should be listed in any good partshop . And DONT buy it a Volvo !!!!! You gone pay it twice the price for the same quality....Good look to change the alternator !!!! You will have to take the radiator out ...I did it on mine 1 week ago. If you want an alternator I have one but i live in Montreal Canada LOL .
