I have a volvo v40, it has run very well until yesterday after warming the car as I usually do, drove 1 mile, turn to the right and started hearing a bumping and it felt like things were seizing up, I coasted over to an area where I could stop, got out, went in to run an errand and ---when I came out, started just fine and ran well the rest of the day, when this went on, brief flashing of the ABS light and battery light.
today, went the same distance, made the same turn and the same thing happened, although no warning lights came on, but my lights dimmed.again, ran fine the rest of the day.
I am at a loss, any one out there ever had a similar issue? I am taking it in to have a diagnostic in the morning but would like to have a heads up when I get there

Sounds like an electrical/charging system issue.
The power steering pump does draw a good amount of electrical power and it could be causing you problems.
