volvo v40 engine temperature range
hi, just hoping someone can tell me what the optimum range of engine temperatures should be for a v40. My 1998 v40 is fitted with an electronic temperature gauge. The car seems to get up to 98 degrees quite easily when sitting in traffic ( I seem to recall that the car never went over about 93 degrees a couple of years ago). I know that the fan comes on at 102 and takes the temp. down pretty quickly and I'm in no danger of damaging the engine until after 115. On the motorway the car runs nice and cool, So it's just sitting in traffic that it seems to shoot up. Oil and coolant and thermostat etc changed recently.
Can anyone share there experience with their car's operating temps? Or tell me whether my car is doing okay hitting 100 C quite often.
I live in a pretty moderate climate with temps ranging from about 5 to 25 degree celcius.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Thanks
