hi everyone I have a 2011 v50 1.6d that went into limp mode, I just managed to drive 30miles home ,in the end I could barely get up hills, the next day tried to drive 7 miles to my garage but only made it halfway before it cut out and had to be towed. The engine isn't getting diesel but the mechanic doesn't know why, checked the tank and the gauze is clean, there doesn't seem to be any errors coming up on the computer. Has anyone any ideas? thanks mike

 

If the pump is getting power, and not producing fuel flow / pressure, it's a bad fuel pump.

If the pump is producing pressure, and it's not getting to the engine, it's a bad filter / line / regulator or maybe a bunch of plugged injectors.

But the car's at a shop and they can't figure this out? Hmmmmm.

 

thanks habbyguy i will have to move it to another shop I think🤢 i had to buy another car as its been in the shop for a few weeks, a 2011 v60 1.6d which is lovely but is only giving me 42 mph where as the v50 was giving me 51 mph, the guy I bought the v60 from is a mechanic and said if he had the v50 and v60 alongside each other he might be able figure it out from going back and forth between the 2 but he might have just said that as I was buying the car from him😁. i do have a 2008 v50 1.6 that the flywheel needs to be replaced that I was given that might be handy for parts if I can figure out what part😁 and sadly I don't have the knowledge to attempt it myself

 

Yeah, you need a new shop. ;-) There's not much tribal knowledge on the diesel variants here, as we never got them in the US (sadly).
