This is the first car that I have made good use of my universals for my ratchet wrenches. You will need one either for 1/4" drive or 3/8" to get the gas pedal off. I heard one mechanic recommend a cordless mini impact driver.
I just did mine last month and about half way through I was asking myself, why? I got it done though.
By the way, while doing the job I found the climate control cabin temp sensor all clogged with dust. It has a little motor with a fan to draw air across the sensor. You can see the little vent for it just behind the radio console. I removed it and cleaned it out with a little compressed air.

The nuts that hold the gas pedal in place. I want to try a mini impact driver next time or something powered.

No biggie
This weekend I changed the cabin air filter. It is something I am glad I don't have to do as frequently as an oil change, but it wasn't all that bad. I must say that thanks to your good advice I was well informed and prepared for what to expect. I know if I was doing this cold my head would have exploded. I had more trouble with taking the plastic shrouding off the dash than anything else. I did find that whoever did it before me (it was a Volvo filter so it must have been the dealer) did not put the top screw back on the filter housing so there were only 2 screws, also they had put the filter in upside dow and backwards (arrows facing toward engine compartment). I did not have a cabin temp sensor in my 2007, at least where I expected to see it, behind the radio panel. Anyway its done, no biggie, but then I was prepared.
Thanks for the help.
