CEM no lights wipers or steering wheel controls
Hi all,
Im in need of some help,
My v50 2005 has gremlins and my volvo dealer wants to change everything indicating to me that he is not sure what is wrong.
Symptoms are no steering wheel controls.... and now won't start, i don't think these are related... read on
The relay comfort functions R18 on the CEM is not getting power, this drives many of the fuses hence no steering wheel controls...
I'm not the first owner and it definately had a hit previous to me...
I don't know if the steering wheel airbag went off but it does look a little new...
It was suggested to me that the wiring behind the steering wheel may have got burnt, possibly the SWM or clock spring...
I have replaced the steering lock module and the ignition module.
I also brought power to the R18 relay via a bypass which gave me power to the steering wheel controls but this was temporary... Without this bypass the wipers remain on continuously and the Steering Wheel has not power...
Now the car won't start just keeps turning over, so I need to get some of these problems fixed asap before going near the dealer again....
Q1
If the SWM or Clock spring wiring is burnt would this prevent power to the R18 Relay via the CEM.... Which of the two is likely to be burnt? This is the biggest question, if I can locate this problem the starting problem would be easier to fix....
Q2
The car was running and decided not to start, it turns over fine but just won't start like it has no Diesel getting to the engine... I can't find any obvious faults.... (ie fuses)
Thanks very much
Dom
