Default Constant beeping noise while driving, only happens very occasionally

Hello, I registered here to see if anyone can help solve a mystery? About once a year, maybe less, my V50 makes a loud on-off beeping noise while driving.

When it does happen it starts as soon as I reach normal driving speed, maybe 25mph. It stops when I drop below this speed, then starts again above 25mph. If I turn the engine off and restart then it goes away until the next time months later.

The last few times it has happened when driving in heavy rain, so I wondered if it was some kind of electrical thing, but tonight it happened on a dry if slightly cold and misty night.

I managed to record a few seconds of it this evening and have tried to attach it here. If that doesn’t work the video is at: https://imgur.com/a/jR6wMWH

There are no warning lights or messages on the dashboard and the beeping doesn’t sound like any of the other warning tones I have heard eg for door open, seatbelt not in use etc. Just a loud constant on-off beep. I can’t see anything in the user manual or online that fits the bill.

Any ideas? Car is a 2008 V50 2.0 SE Lux.

I sold my V50 years ago, but remember there was an option buried in the dash menu to set a max speed alert. I have no idea why it would happen intermittently, but you might want to look for that function and re-set it to a VERY high speed. If it ever happens again, check to see if that programming changed. I don't know if that system reads off the same sensor that drives the speedometer, but if not, you might want to check the "other sensor" (you'll have to find a schematic or other info on the speed alert system).
