Crankcase over pressure PCV? V50
On my 2006 V50 non-turbo 2.4 I notice lots of oil on the head around the plugs. It seems to be coming from the oil fill cap area but I am not sure. When I remove the oil fill cap when running there is significant pressure blows out, even just after the engine is stopped. I assume it is a PCV valve so I bought a "PCV Valve Standard V426 fits 04-11 Volvo S40 2.5L-L5" but I can't find it on the engine. Is it inside the housing where the filter is located or inside that small foam elbow? Do I need to remove the housing? Please help. Thanks, Scott
It looks like the 2006s have a PCV oil trap as a single unit with the oil filter housing and the PCV hose goes into that. Search for Volvo P# 31338685 at Shop OEM Volvo parts & accessories ? Volvo Parts Warehouse for a pic.
Thanks. I went back to parts store and the part is listed, but they agreed it was not for the car. I ordered a housing from amazon for $150. On they way to the store I drove with my dipstick out. Car ran much better, but a little messy. The car has always been gutless compared to my turbo Volvos, but I did not realize there was a problem. I bought it with 106K miles. I look forward to better performance after replacing housing.
