I had a strange experience today while driving on a highway. As I was accelerating to get on the highway, I looked down at my dash board to see what speed I was going, but only to find that my dash board was black! All lights were off and the meters were pointing at zero, even the turn signals gave no sound at all. I was still able to either accelerate or slow down, however. I pulled over to the emergency lane and turned the car off, but it was the same blackness after I turned the car right back on. It was only sometime later that I found out that I actually had to turn the car off, take the key out and then turn the car back on would it be back to normal. How strange! Has anyone had any similar experience? It was a little frightening for me personally, and I don't know what's causing this kind of behavior.
