Volvo volvo v50 battery light on and red triangle light on at same time also lost power steering any ideas please it's an 1.8 petrol 55 plate thanks

Your alternator is not recharging the battery - once the voltage gets low enough the CEM starts shutting off items so the car will stay running as long as possible.
