Engine system service urgent shortly after start/drive. v50 16.d 2007
Hi there
Ive gotten this message a couple of times now. Big red triangle and engine service urgent. First time it came on within 2 minutes of starting the car and driving a little. I turned the car on and off and i didnt get any more messages that day. Second day i drove for about 5 minutes turned the car off, went into the store and when i came back and started the car it came back on but cleared with a READ press. I havent noticed anything different with it but i was driving below 30kmh. The only change ive done is to change the oil and ive done about 100kmh since. Ive checked the level and its within max but high. Havent seen any leaks. While i dont quite remember the numbers it feels like its using a bit more than usual when starting and running cold. (0C ambient temps) Spiking to 2.5-3l per 100 in first gear shortly after start which i suppose is normal but cant recall seeing it that high. Same going back up the hill while only slightly warm. Going over 2l while it usually goes to 1.6-1.8. I could be wrong there though as i havent kept an eye on that to much. I also I did this test and i see i have error codes set on most of them
Anyone had a similar experience with it? Id prefer not to drive it if it can be something serious. Ive ordered a a ELM 327 reader that i will try the Torque app but i cant be sure it will read everything and it will be at the end of next week.
Confused about your oil level... is it correct, or is it high (can't be both).
Not many here will know anything about the diesel variant though... it might help to pass along the OBD error codes you get.
And yeah, the Torque app is a really great option (especially the Torque Pro app, that costs $5 IIRC). It'll let you look at a LOT of parameters that are otherwise hidden. No better way to spend that little bit of money on car maintenance and tools, IMHO.
Hello. I could not fix that red triangle with OBD2 Torque pro, or any other diagnostic tool so far sir. Driving with the triangle for six years now. Eventually got annoyed, so I covered the triangle with the tape. Mine is 2.0 HDI (PSA) also MK2. Fault codes for EGR, and had power reduction from time to time. Board under the glove compartment. Contacts should be cleaned more often (in my case) . EGR was clean, electricity problems. Torque still shows EGR code problems, but the car is running fine. Seat belt light is also on for six years, and I can't figure out where is the problem? I learned more here from you sir, then from all others combined (live). When I bought the car, that triangle was off. By the time I drove him home, triangle was on and stayed on all these years. Every electrician, different story but neither one solved the problem. Glove compartment board contacts I figured out alone, and that was helpful, but the triangle... Ground wire somewhere (lighter maybe?).
About the oil, ive been a bit unsure about what mark the actual max (assuming its just below the top bulge) is which is why i mentioned it could be a bit high. I drained a tad just to be safe. I havent had the message since i pressed READ on it and ive done a 260km drive without any issues. Ill just have to wait and see what the code is.
2/3 is like it should be (same here). I'm not an expert, but it turned out that the service technicians here are even less professional. I had the same problems with wipers, lowering windows and throwing out messages (to make matters worse, the display is in Italian). That board in the V50 is not the same as in the V70. It is thermo labile and there is no help other than cleaning. This video seems good to me. That was a problem with me. I couldn't solve the triangle, everything else works great. I pass technically with a triangle because everything works. It is a Peugeot engine, the codes will remain controversial. I still have the wrong EGR code, but I have no problem. I even removed the valve and it was clean. It is quite a complicated procedure and I do not recommend that you do it alone. Try to keep your fuel tank never below 1/3 because the fuel pump can also cause a problem. It is a good car for that money and maintenance is not expensive because a lot of parts go to Ford C-max and Peugeot. I hope I helped you, watch the video and try it or tell the electrician to do it.
Finally got the OBD reader and i see i got a few codes on there.
In total ive had the engine service urgent warning 3 times. The last time it came on shortly after start but right after some heavy bumps so there could be some bad contact.
P0341 Powertrain: From what i gather "Got a chance to check the code, it actually isn't related to the CVVT. Its likely either corrosion at the camshaft position sensor connector, a problem with the wiring to it or a bad camshaft position sensor. Certainly not very common at all."
P1632 Powertrain: Not quite sure
P2585 Powertrain.
I dont know how old these codes are so ill clear them and see if i get the same fault. Any tips on these are most welcome. Seems to be electrical though
