I get it just fine. If the members here can't answer your "But why?" questions and you don't like it, then leave. This is not the first time you've complained about this forum. Engineers have better things to do than answer your "But why?" questions.
You still haven't answered why the fact that so many manufacturers use a version of Geartronic gets your panties in such a bunch.

Manual Shift - again...
This manual shift issue seems to be a common problem. I have recently bought a 2008 V50 D20 and it also has the manual shift problem. I have replaced the shifter blind (correctly, ribbed side down; thanks to this forum) and still do not get the manual shift mode. I am in Italy and would really like to manually shift through the hills down here south of Naples, the diesel gets a big sluggish and constantly "hunts" for a gear... Any ideas?
If you've got any more V50 questions, don't hesitate to ask me!

The little magnets on the shift blind need to line up with the sensors on the PC board under your shifter. It's not at all uncommon for soft drinks to spill into that area (often that's why the shift gate fails - the soda gums up the blind, and it comes apart under the pressure). This could have messed up the PC board.
