Hello!

I recently upgraded my low beam headlights to LED's on my 2005 Volvo V50 T5. I did a lot of research beforehand and made sure to have my DRL's disabled before installing the kit. I also ordered a disabler that is supposed to prevent the low beam failure light from coming on. The kit was super easy to install (took less than 4 minutes) and the lights look and work great! But after a few minutes of driving the low beam failure light flashes on and off once a minute or so on my dashboard. The headlights don't flicker or anything, but the little orange light flashing on intermittently is super annoying. After looking through countless threads I have been unable to find a fix. I did see one thread talking about running a relay to the battery for HID's due to a wattage issue. But the LED's use LESS wattage than the factory halogens so the power doesn't seem to be the issue here. Anybody else come across this issue? Any help would be much appreciated!

 

I am also having this issue with my 2016 XC60. That almost non-stop flashing on the dashboard is driving me nuts and is becoming very distractive. Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

 

 

The system senses a certain amount of resistance and amp draw. When switching to LED bulbs, this changes the resistance and amp draw. Thus, the warning.

 

 

Go back to standard bulbs. Problem solved.

 

 

my 2005 v60 2.5t AWD has the low beam failure dash light
yet all the lights work perfectly and have for months.
What gives? I have the 55 watt bulbs so no resistance problem.
Can an OBD2 scanner clear it?
I even disconnected the battery and it returned.
High and low beams work perfectly so I can't imagine a ballast problem or melted wires.

Hi! I put Low beam LED light bulbs in my XC90 a month ago. I had to install a pair of resistors in order to avoid the "warning" problem and it dissappeared.
Anyway, the beam pattern was not perfect (some light escaped upwards) and although nobody complained about it when driving, I was not satisfied with it, so I bought new H7 LED bulbs, and with these, the "cut" in the pattern is perfect. It is like the one you have with the halogen bulbs but with much better light.
The problem now is again the "fused bulb" warning. With these new bulbs the resistors don't seem to work. Everything is connected exactly the same way, but in some minutes after I start driving, the warning appears again. It is really annoying. I have checked all connections.
I think that if you connect a 50W resistor, it should not give you the warning even if you don't put the bulb, because it makes the system feel that it is connected. That is why I do not understand why I have the problem with these bulbs.
I will go on trying different possibilities and tell you my conclusions, and please do the same. LED bulbs are a great improvement for our cars.

 

I've figured out that the passenger low beam comes on with the parking light,errantly.
If I'm in DRL or full running lights both the parking bulbs and low beams are on. I can deal with that.
So to get rid of the "low beam failure" warning dash light, every time I start the car I hit the reset button on the directional shaft
and turn the ring to "miles til empty" or "mpg" or just a blank screen and it never comes returns!
Someone wired the parking light to the passenger low beam. Don't know why.
