Model year difference for the V50
Hi,
I am completely new to the Volvo world and I am trying to gather information around the V50 and its history. I am looking at buying a new or most likely used V50 and I am trying to find out what were the differences between the various model year, i.e. 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005. I have the specs for the 2009 obviously.
I tried to search for this information, but couldn't find anything, so if it has already been covered elsewhere, please feel free to point me towards that direction.
Thanks a lot in advance for the help.

RE: Model year difference for the V50
The differences are minor. My wife and I have a 2007 V50 and a 2007 S40, and I work at the service department of a Volvo dealer in Texas, so I know these cars pretty well.
The biggest difference is in the stereos. Most early V50 did not have an auxiliary input jack for connecting iPods and the like. My 2007 V50 with the upgraded six-CD changer system has the AUX jack. If I recall correctly, the base stereo does not have the AUX jack. If connecting an MP3 player is important to you turn on the car you are testing and press the Mode button on the stereo. If you see an AUX selection you'll have your answer. The auxiliary input on the early V50s is behind the console center stack. In mid '08 Volvo relocated the jack to inside the center storage compartment. Beginning mid-November 2008 Volvo starting equipping all 2009 model vehicles with USB input ports.
The other big change in '09 was spreading the letters V-O-L-V-O across the rear of the car to make the logo easier to read.
If you are interested in the T5 model, Volvo increased the horsepower from 218 to 228 for the 2008 models.
As I said, the differences among model years are minor.

RE: Model year difference for the V50
FWIIW, V50s produced after mid-November 2008 (i.e. all but the first few months of MY 2008 production, have a substantially improved and slightly more expensive navigation system than the 2007 and early 2008 models. I have a 2007 V50 and a later 2008 S40 and much prefer the nav system in the latter, which has real-time traffic information and a number of other refinements.
