Default stock shocks too stiff?

2006 V50 T5 here, 50,000 miles...I have always found the ride of this car too aggressive, too stiff. Does anybody else have the same problem, and is there a solution (i.e. a softer brand of shocks/struts)? Maybe it's the sporty way the car is supposed to be, but in my dotage, it's getting a bit annoying.

Any advice?

It depends on three things. At the base, the car has rather stiff shocks, that wear at about 60.000 miles to give an even stiffer ride. You may try replacement Monroe, I've heard the ride a little more smooth. Also, tires brand adds to the equation, some are stiffer, Michelins are usually smoother. A worn tire will give a stiffer ride, a tire inflated above 28-30 psi will also have the same effect (speaking on Volvo given the rather stiff suspension.)

Do you have the Sport Suspension? If so, the springs are stiffer. Otherwise, I find the regular suspension "Comfort Springs" very compliant.

I replaced my shocks/struts with the Koni Yellow which are adjustable. On their softest setting, they are quite soft yet still very responsive.
