Default V50 2.0D (2094) injector question diesel

If i replace injectors/atomizer with new ones, do they need to be programmed in the ECU ?
Talking about a d4204t engine.
Build in 2004.
Swapped all 4

As long as the new ones are within the specs of the original type injectors, the ECU should be able to adjust the injection. It might take a few drive cycles (cold to hot to cold) but I can't imagine that you'll have any real problems. OTOH, if the injectors are all some off-brand knock-off, you MIGHT have problems with them eventually (not all injectors are created equal). I always recommend finding the one injector that's got a problem, and replacing just that one - unless of course a fuel system contamination messed 'em all up...

Thanks for the reply,
Ik replaced all 4 (d4204t) with refurbished units, the ones i pulled out where all faulty at the piezo part of them.
Its a swap with a lot of money (€235,- per injector) from my side.
As i was told they are only refurbished by the manufacturing company. Went from class 5 tot class 4, adjusted the clas within vida. Cat runs fine as is (without the coding part). Being told different things by different people who work with those card ( some say you need to code Them in, others believen its not breder as the ECU has a self Learning system).
After resetting the Cars ECU i've clicked the "reset/relearn adaptation valies" then went of to work 33km trip, from a cold start, and back home about 10hours later, basicly its 2 cold starts and 66km later. Few jours later we drove about 180km to the beach and back home after a few hours.
I would say as far as re-learning that should be more then enough.
Non the less , one of the people dating you need to code Them was a Volvo mechanic for about 16years, he says he can code The injectors in. Waiting for my brothers andere as that Guy is a co-worker of him.

For the life of me I can't imagine what could cause the piezo transducer to fail on all four injectors... that really makes no sense (but maybe there is some other sort of malfunction that can cause that?).

The ECU should learn to adjust the new injectors, though it will probably take longer than if you did a new adaptation through VIDA.

In the end, if the car is running fine, and getting good mileage, I wouldn't worry much.

Me neither, but probably the mileage would be something that would have something tot do with IT (original 2004 injectors with 400.000km OR about 250.000miles).
They (the diesel Tech company) could het Them tot communicate and the fourth Just said pfoof when they connected it) to their testing Gear
The complaints was rough cold start, lumpy idle when cold. (Like IT was nog running continously on 4 but sometimes 1 (of more) where of ie missing. A Bit better when IT was in opperating temps.

Glow plugs where changed about 5000km ago's , egr is plugged of with a banking plate.

Mileage . 1liter for about 18km (don't what that would be in MPG, if Google is to be trusted something like 42,3mpg)

If some words are weird or caps'd it's because my phone is dutch in auto suggestion sorry about that.

Hello, Yes, on the D4204T engine, if you replace all four injectors with new ones, they usually need to be programmed or calibrated in the ECU. Modern diesel engines rely on precise injector data (often called injector coding) so the ECU can adjust fuel delivery accurately for each cylinder. Without programming, you may experience rough running, misfires, or reduced performance. Since you swapped all four injectors, the dealer or a qualified workshop can perform the injector coding procedure using Volvo diagnostic tools to ensure the engine runs smoothly.
