I have a V50 and the power system warning light has come on. Volvo have told me the alternator is charging but ther only cure is to have a new alternator fitted. Looking on the web i have found out that it maybe just a fault with the wiring loom. Is thois an item that i can buy? Has anybody had a similar fault.

How did you get on with your car?
I have the same fault on my v50 at the moment.
The power system service urgent light came on intermittently over winter , but has been ok since. However, it came back on yesterday and stayed on, then on the way to the garage, lost power steering, then died.
Got the car recovered to the garage, battery was dead, but recharged ok overnight, alternator is pumping out 13.5v which i have been told is fine. So, maybe it is the wiring?
